Let me check my notes
Robert Jordan has been dead for a day, yet my flist is silent on the subject. Clearly, I have some fundamental misapprehensions about the kind of people whose blogs I stalk.

Just can't bring myself to care overly much. It's been years since I tried reading the first book, but man, I just don't jive with the fantasy, y'know?

Wah! Hello, person from that other place.

I think my hindbrain hasn't yet learned that computers aren't televisions. I'm still sort of viscerally startled every time characters wander from one program to another, or speak directly to me.

Maybe, just maybe, people will realize now that he had no intention of ending the series.

This is the first I've heard of it, to be honest. Granted, I've been somewhat preoccupied with my own stuff for the past week, but hmm.

I mean, hate to say it, but I knew this would happen when I got into his stuff a decade ago. Sucks when someone dies, but dammit why couldn't he have finished the damn series??? Fucker.

I got the news from my friends list (from George R. R. Martin, actually). He's been working on the final book in the series for awhile so hopefully we can expect some sort of posthumous treatment (like Douglas Adams' Salmon of Doubt).

Dude, when I was old enough to be interested, there were already eight books out, all 500 plus pages. There's, what now? SIXTEEN? That's a huge commitment, really. Never had the urge to try it.
